The unfortunate end, for Anna, of yielding to the demands of her emotions rather than standing in the strength of the wisdom of God and societal rules that have protected the family, a safe-haven for raising children and the expression of adult passion for centuries, is tragic. Anna, having lost husband, son, a place in society and now her lover and his financial support, throws herself in front of a moving train and dies.
