We Need Change By Anthony Milton

Living Epistles Ministries is a Port Jefferson Station, New York-based teaching ministry providing services and resources to followers of Christ around the world. Over the course of more than three decades, Living Epistles Ministries (LEM) has amassed a comprehensive archive of writings from founder Sheila Vitale, as well as LEM disciples.

LEM disciple Anthony Milton has contributed texts such as Do You Really Love God? and From the Eyes of a Cop: Black Lives Matter. In his piece We Need Change, Mr. Milton reflects on a conversation he had with his young daughter regarding her interest in the ongoing 2008 presidential election. The conversation focused on how both major political parties frequently offer the vague promise of change without detailing the nature of this change, how change will be achieved and sustained, or how specific changes will impact different groups of people in various ways.

The article goes on to explore aspects of personal change and accountability, as well as an improved candidate-voter relationship. Furthermore, Mr. Milton discusses his twelve-year-old daughter’s feelings about change being offered only to those with the ability to vote.

To find work by other LEM disciples, including Winifred Ward and Fidelis Onwubueke, please visit the teaching ministry online at www.livingepistles.org.
