Jesus' Conception - A Holy Soul In A Physical Child
JESUS' CONCEPTION - A HOLY SOUL IN A PHYSICAL CHILD

Based in Port Jefferson Station, New York, Living Epistles Ministries is a teaching ministry that helps Christians gain a deeper understanding of Christ and the Bible. Living Epistles Ministries fulfills its educational mission through publishing books and articles. It recently published a blog article on its website discussing the conception of Jesus Christ.
In the New Testament, it is written that the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and announced “Thou shalt conceive in your womb and bring forth a son and shalt call his name Jesus” (Lk 1:31). So we see that two things happened. Mary conceived a holy soul in her womb that entered into Jesus, the physical child that was fathered by Joseph. Of note here is the use of the word conceive.
Children in Biblical times assumed the lineage of their father. Therefore, translations of the Hebrew and Greek words “begat,” reference all other conceptions in the Bible. But, the Greek word for “conceive” is used sparingly in the New Testament, describing only two conceptions, that of John and Jesus. This clearly shows that Jesus and John were conceived supernaturally, but that Jesus was born with an additional, holy soul.
When the Angel Gabriel announced that Mary would conceive, her womb was seized by that "holy thing", and she gave birth to a physical child that had an additional Holy soul. Hence, Joseph was the father of the physical child Jesus, but God was the father of the holy soul.
