Comment: I want to ask you questions about Job, in Chapter 41. I may go over each verse because the spiritual part of it has a lot of things in it that needs to be explained.
Pastor Vitale: Okay.
Comment:
Job 41:1 Canst thou draw out Leviathan with an hook? Or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
What is the hook?
Pastor Vitale: Well, I am not sure what the difference is between the hook and the cord. I think the primary intent there is that we have to understand that Leviathan has to be drawn out. Who is Leviathan? He is the adamic soul, and he has to be removed from us. God is saying to Job, do you have the power to remove your adamic soul from your being?
As we have been studying recently, we know that if you try to remove your adamic soul from your being, without having Christ added to you first, you will die. Even if you have Christ added to you, the Lord is saying to Job, you are a natural man. Do you have the power to reach down into the depths of your spiritual being and hook Leviathan, like he was a fish in the waters, and pull him out? That is what God is saying to Job. The truth is that natural man has no power over Leviathan, whatsoever.
Comment:
Job 41:1 Canst thou draw out Leviathan with an hook? Or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
What is his tongue with a cord?
Pastor Vitale: I have not looked up those words, so I would rather not say something I am not sure of between the difference of drawing Leviathan out and drawing his tongue out. What it is probably referring to is different parts of the living soul.
Comment:
Job 41:2 Canst thou put an hook into his nose? Or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
Pastor Vitale: Without looking up the Hebrew words, I really cannot expound on that. Again, I am saying that the idea of this passage is that God is saying that He has the power to defeat every aspect of Leviathan. He is breaking him down into his different aspects. That is what God can do. He is saying, who are you, Job, to lift yourself up in pride against me? Look at what I can do. I am the one that has the power to defeat Leviathan, and to defeat every part of him.
Comment: Why is God talking about Leviathan’s nose and his jaw?
Pastor Vitale: The Lord is referring to different parts of the living soul, but I am not going to speak on it if I am not prepared by studying the verses.
Comment:
Job 1:3 Will he make many supplications unto thee? Will he speak soft words unto thee?
Is this talking about Leviathan speaking soft words?
Pastor Vitale: The Lord, again, is challenging Job. He is saying, is Leviathan kind to you like I am? No, Leviathan hates you. The adamic soul hates you, and he will destroy you if he could.
Comment:
Job 1:4 Will he make a covenant with thee? Wilt thou take him for a servant forever?
Pastor Vitale: In other words, what God is really doing here is He is saying to Job, look, I am God and I am great. I, the great Almighty God, have made a covenant with man, that I shall raise you from the dead, that I shall return you to heavenly places, where you shall be equal with me. He is saying, can Leviathan do this for you? Of course, the answer is no. The second thing that God said to Job is, will he take you as a servant forever? God is taking man into high spiritual places.
Comment: What does He mean by a servant forever? When I read this, I thought it meant are you using Leviathan for your purposes?
Pastor Vitale: No, the whole purpose behind this discourse between God and Job is that the natural man tends to serve Leviathan. If God does not intervene, if God does not show His power, sometimes if God does not chase him, man turns towards Leviathan. That is because of pride.
One of Job’s sins in the Book of Job is self-righteousness, where Job said, I do not deserve this chastening that you are doing to me. I do not deserve it. By Job speaking those words, he was speaking the words of Leviathan, and he therefore was a servant of pride. You can only serve God or mammon. You cannot serve both. By Job speaking these words, he was serving his own adamic soul, and denying God. God is saying to him, why are you doing this? Does Leviathan have the power to raise you up? Does he have the power to make you a servant forever? Of course, I would have to look that word up in the Hebrew. We know we are told in the New Testament that we are no longer servants, but we are friends of God. I would have to look that word up in the Hebrew. I would, more or less, expect that the Lord would be friend. God is saying, why are you serving Leviathan? Why do you not serve me? Why do you not acknowledge your weakness, and repent, and serve God, because Job was insisting that he did not do anything wrong. Because he was insisting that he did not do anything wrong, he made God guilty. That is what pride does. We were talking about that earlier today.
Comment: If a person does not repent, then they are really blaming God?
Pastor Vitale: Yes, because they are saying that I am righteous. Both cannot be righteous. We have a conflict, you see. One of us must be unrighteous. If I am okay, the unrighteous one must be you. That is what man says to God. In other words, there is a law of God, that is being challenged. I am trying to think of an example in this ministry. Somebody was being rebuked, and another member of the congregation rose up and attacked the person of God that was extending the rebuke. The reality of that is that the rebuke was under the anointing. The rebuke was Godly. So the other member of the congregation, that opposed it, was manifesting pride. She did not like that God was rebuking this person in this situation. Just to oppose the will of God is pride. To think that you know better than God is pride. To say that it is okay to fornicate when God’s word says that it is not. It is pride. It is much more than rebellion. It is pride. It is saying you know better than God. It is written in black and white in the Bible. But they say that is just a book from olden days. That is pride. He knows more than God.
Comment:
Job 41:5 Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? Or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
Why does He say a bird? What has this to do with his maidens?
Pastor Vitale: I do not know, Rita. Scriptures like this, you really have to go into the Hebrew. I really do not know.
Comment:
Job 41:6 Shall the companions make a banquet of him? Shall they part him among the merchants?
Pastor Vitale: I can tell you what that means. Well, who were God’s companions? The body of Christ. They are going to make a banquet of him. They are going to be eating his flesh and drinking his blood. The next phrase is, shall they part him among the merchants? Christ has been broken into many pieces. There is a piece of him in you, and there is a piece of him in me. That is what God is saying.
Comment: Shall the companions make a banquet of him? Shall they part him among the merchants? He is talking about Leviathan right now.
Pastor Vitale: Yes, He is saying, can natural man do this? That is what He is saying.
Comment:
Job 41:7 Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? Or his head with fish spears?
Pastor Vitale: These are the judgments that God is going to execute upon the adamic soul. He is going to slay him. He is going to slay the dragon in the sea.
Comment:
Job 41:8-9
8 Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.
9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain; shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
Pastor Vitale: The hope of him is in vain. Leviathan hopes to live for the life of the ages, but it is in vain, because he will be destroyed. He will be brought into submission to Christ, and lose all opportunity to manifest. His hope is in vain.
Comment:
Job 41:10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up; who then is able to stand before me?
Pastor Vitale: Yes, he is wicked. Who can challenge Leviathan? Only God. The Lord is saying, why do you serve him? I am the only one that can save you from him. Why do you not turn to me? Look at the world today. Such a small percentage have turned to Christ. The Lord is saying, I am the only one in the universe that can defeat your enemy that is killing you. Why do you not turn to me? That is what He is saying to Job. We know that the answer to that question is that the natural man’s heart is desperately wicked, and turns away from God, lest God draws him.
Comment: This is good. I started to think on that verse today. I was starting to understand, leviathan is so fierce, who dares to stir him up. But God is saying, I can do it. Who is able to stand before me? That is what the Lord is saying.
Pastor Vitale: Leviathan is bad news, but God is the only one that could do it.
Comment:
Job 41:11 Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? Whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.
Pastor Vitale: God is saying, who do I owe anything to? Who have I borrowed from? Who have I taken from? What have I needed that I should have to repay them? Nobody, because He said everything that is under the whole heaven belongs to Him.
Comment: Why is God saying that to Job at that point? Why is God saying I do not owe anybody because it is all mine?
Pastor Vitale: All of these verses that we have been talking about, what God is doing is, He is exalting Himself to Job, and telling him that his thoughts are reprobate, in saying that he did not deserve the judgments that were falling upon him. He set his wisdom up against the wisdom of God. God says that Job’s heart needed to be judged.
Now the reason for Job’s error is that he had the righteousness of the law. He was keeping the law to the best of his ability. He made all the sacrifices. He did everything the law required him to do, and he found himself righteous. He could not comprehend that God did not find him righteous. Even though he was keeping the works of the law, there is another step that man has to go through. The law gives us justification before God, but the hour is coming, and indeed is at hand, that God is requiring His sons to be purged of their sins. Their sins generate from the adamic soul. Our sins must be purged, and the adamic soul must be swallowed up by Christ. Now the church, today, has the same problem that Job and the Pharisees had. They think that because they have the imputed anointing, and the forgiveness of sins because of the sacrifice at Calvary, that they do not have to be purged of their sins. They think they are going to heaven just by the law, and they are not. They are making the same mistake that Job made. When the trials come upon them, they blame Satan. Hallelujah.
Comment:
Job 41:12 I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
Pastor Vitale: The only comment that I have is that the parts of Leviathan is the many membered living soul. The Lord is saying that He is not going to hide them. He is not going to conceal them. Is that not what He is saying? I have to look that up in the Hebrew.
Comment:
Job 41:13 Who can discover the face of his garment? Or who can come to him with his double bridle?
Pastor Vitale: To discover the face of his garment. His garment is that which is seen in the realm of appearance. To discover something means to remove it or to see what is underneath it. Who is going to reveal him? Who can see into his motives? Who can see beyond the human being, look deep into the heart of a man, and see what his motives really are? Who can do that?
Comment: Who can come to him with his double bridle?
Pastor Vitale: I do not know what double bridle means.
Comment:
Job 41:14 Who can open the doors of his face? His teeth are terrible round about.
Pastor Vitale: I just know that the face usually refers to the realm of appearance. His teeth are terrible. The teeth we found in other scriptures refers to the satanic realm.
Comment: It sounds like it is talking about a monster of terror with fangs. (Laughter)
Pastor Vitale: You have to realize that when it gets to these kind of scriptures, the King James translators made some very poor choices to translate the Hebrew words. You really have to go into the Hebrew and do these verses word by word, verse by verse.
Comments:
Job 41:15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
Pastor Vitale: I would really rather not say anything than put something wrong in the message.
Comment:
Job 41:16-19
16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
18 By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.
Pastor Vitale: Maybe one of these days, the Lord will let me do a word by word study. I want to do the whole Bible word by word. (Laughter) I would be doing it for the next twenty five years.
Comments:
Job 41:20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
Pastor Vitale: You have to realize these King James translators wrote him up as a sea monster. If you recall, we did a study on Behemoth, which is the chapter before this. He turned out to be nothing at all like what he was described in Job 40, so I do not want to guess.
Job 41:21-24
21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
22 In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.
23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.
24 His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.
Pastor Vitale: Well, that is the heart of stone that natural man has. He has a stony heart.
Job 41:25-31
25 When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.
26 The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.
27 He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
28 The arrow cannot make him flee; slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
29 Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.
30 Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.
31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.
Pastor Vitale: Pride, when it is rising up, it is like a boiling kettle. It just starts slowly, and it rises up, and it could turn into a full rage like a boiling pot. He is very, very wicked.
Job 41:32-33
32 He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
Pastor Vitale: He is without fear. He has no fear of God at all.
Job 41:34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
Pastor Vitale: All the different manifestations of pride. He is the one that produces them. He is at the root of all of the wickedness of mankind. He really is Satan. Satan in the flesh is Leviathan. God in the flesh is Christ. For whatever God’s reason, when He takes on the flesh, He gives him a new name; Christ. When Satan takes on the flesh, God gives him a new name; Leviathan. Satan is a spirit. Leviathan is Satan in the flesh. Sometimes, a lot of people get confused because God has many names for one individual. It gets confusing, but if you can realize that God has a different name for that individual, when it is in a different condition, it is easier to deal with. It is the same person. It is just like taking some woman. She is a mother, a career woman, an aunt, a sister. It is the same thing as saying Satan in the spirit, Leviathan in the flesh.
Comment: Is the son of perdition Satan in the flesh?
Pastor Vitale: I am not sure. It might be. See, the lines are so fine, and they all overlap. Together we are all one. It is just like ripping our body apart. You look at me. I am one human being, but if you were to open me up, I have lungs, and a heart, and millions of billions of blood cells.
Comment: Well, Adam was just the name of the first man. Right?
Pastor Vitale: Adam was the name of the creation. God did not say he was a man. God said he was Adam. The creation was named Adam. The creation was in three parts.
Comment: He called them Adam, right? The male and the female were one. He called them Adam.
Pastor Vitale: The whole creation, which was male and female, and He called them Adam.
Comment: They were after His image, right?
Pastor Vitale: No, they were after His likeness. The Scripture says let us make man in our image, after our likeness. There is a big misunderstanding in the church today. We are not yet in God’s image. We are still being made, because one day to God is a thousand years to us. He said, let us man in the sixth day. Man was made in the sixth day, so this is the end of the sixth day, and man is about to be completed in the image of God. We are just in the likeness of God, in that we are spirit. To be in the image of God, we must have His nature and His character, which is righteousness.
Comment: So when He made them in the beginning, He did not make them in His image and in His likeness?
Pastor Vitale: Well, it is not that He did not make them. He is in the process of making us. He said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and it started to happen. Most of the church world thinks we are already created. We are not. We have not been born yet. We are in the womb of the earth, and we are about to be born in the full image of our Father, Almighty God. But we are like still in the woman’s womb; a pregnancy. We are a fetus. We are in utero. We are not fully formed yet. If a woman is pregnant, and she has the baby before she carries it for the full term, the baby may be deformed. We do not have it all yet. The last thing to be added to us is God’s righteousness, and that is what is happening in this hour. He is adding His righteousness to the creation. Jesus Christ of Nazareth was the first of the creation of God. He was the first man.
Comment: I thought they were in His image, and they lost it when they disobeyed, and ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Pastor Vitale: They were in His imputed image.
Comment: Ultimately, this is all God’s will, right? So what is God’s will with them eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? He knew they would do it. What is His ultimate purpose in them doing that? He knew they would do it. He chose that they would, even though they disobeyed, He still knew. It was in His will, right?
Pastor Vitale: He knew that it was going to happen because of their nature.
Comment: So He planned it?
Pastor Vitale: Yes, I would have to say He planned it that way. I would have to say that.
Comment: That is heavy. That is deep to try and understand that.
Pastor Vitale: That is very heavy.
Comment: Was that because the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was within them? It was not just a natural garden. It was a spiritual place within them. Was that fruit a spirit?
Pastor Vitale: It was a spiritual creation. Well, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was Satan and the tree of life was Christ.
Remember when God joined the son of God to the earth, there was an intelligence in the earth. He put the son of God in there with him so that he could form man. If we went outside, and took some dirt and made an image of a man, it still would not have life. That which gave life to the clay was the son of God. So the son of God found himself locked in a creation with this earth, and there was an intelligence in the earth, and his name is Satan. God said you are locked in there with the tree of life; Christ. He said to Adam, you are the creation, Adam, and within you is Christ, the tree of life in your mind, and also the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Satan. Do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Do not have spiritual sexual relationships with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Comment: Spiritual what? Sexual relationships with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Pastor Vitale: God said do not do that. He said if you do that, you shall surely die.
Comment: That meant in dying, you will die. Eventually you are going to die, so he lived 950 years and he died.
Pastor Vitale: The man, Adam, lived 950 years, but Adam is still alive in you and me, and all the billions of people in the earth.
Comment: We are dying, but his seed continues. It is a dying seed.
Pastor Vitale: We are dying. He is living in these future generations. But if Jesus Christ did not intervene, the whole human race would die out, and then Adam would be dead. He is not dead yet. If Jesus Christ would not be saving the human race, it would die out. It is about to self-destruct. The human race is about to self-destruct.
Comment: So God does want to save Adam?
Pastor Vitale: God wants to save Adam and He will.
Comment: We are not supposed to yield to Adam at all, in us. Is that how he is going to be saved, by being forced into Christ?
Pastor Vitale: He is going to be swallowed up by Christ, and that is how he is going to be saved.
Comment: What does this term swallowed up mean?
Pastor Vitale: Well, you were a school age child at one time, when you were 10 years old. What happened to the body and the mind of your 10 year old Rita? She is a part of you. You are the sum total of all of your years and experiences as a female child. You had one body at age 1 and another body at age 10, and another body at age 15. Where are they? They are all within you. The Rita of today has swallowed up all of those other Rita’s. When I talk to you now, your mind, your opinions, everything that you are, including your body, has swallowed up everything of your past. Today you live in your twenties as a young woman. The 10 year old did not die. The 15 year old did not die. They are living in you. You swallowed them up. They did not die. They live in you. What happened to them? Did they die?
Comment: I just grew out of them.
Pastor Vitale: Well, you grew out of them, but what does that mean? It means as you matured, they were absorbed into what you are today. They are a part of what you are now. I cannot see them. I cannot see a 9 month old baby or a 10 year old child, but she is in there. What happened to her? Her body was not destroyed. There was no death. There was no burial. She is in you, but she changed. She matured.
Comment: So swallowing up in the sense of the natural, it means that it goes through a breakdown and it is consumed. In the natural, when you swallow food, it goes down into the stomach, and it is broken down, and it is consumed.
Pastor Vitale: Right. That is what has happened to all your childhood ages. But I like the word matured that you used. I like that word. The human race, the creation of God, is maturing. When we reach maturity, we are not going to look like anything, at all, like we looked at all those various stages along the way. We are going to look totally different.
Comment: You said it is matured and it is absorbed. That I can understand very easily. In the past when I have heard that term, swallowed up, I immediately thought of something just enveloping over something, and consuming it.
Pastor Vitale: Well, that is true. The Rita that you are today, at the very least, you are taller than the 10 year old Rita. You are broader than the 10 year old Rita. You have overtaken her and swallowed her up, and she lives within you. You still have all of her memories, even if they have been pushed to the background within you. All of her memories, all of her loves, all of her good experiences, all of her bad experiences are all within you. As she matured, she was swallowed up by the mature Rita, and that is what is happening to the human race. We are being swallowed up by Christ, who is our elder brother. We are becoming like him. But we do not want to grow up. We are fighting every step of the way.
