Did Jesus Break The Ten Commandments
QUESTION:
Did the 10 Commandments also apply to Jesus Christ...and...Did Jesus Christ break God's (His own) Holy Law!? Yes or no?
ANSWER:
Hi xxxx
The 10 commandments are the Spiritual Law of God. A righteous man is incapable of breaking these laws. The Mosaic Law is a different law, the Law of Ordinances, which was written for imperfect natural Israel. Jesus kept the Spiritual Law of God by living out of His Father's sinless nature, which sinless nature destroyed the Law of Ordinances which was in the flesh that He inherited from his mother.
Eph 2:15-16
15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: (KJV)
Col. 2: 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; (KJV)
Col 2:20-22
20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? (KJV)
QUESTION:
First off, thanks for an explanation. I do appreciate it. You said The 10 commandments are the Spiritual Law of God. I take it that your thinking here is like mine in that the "Spiritual Law of God" is first and foremost, love (Mt. 22:37-40: Love the Lord thy God with all...and thy neighbor as thyself)!? Also, correct "slow" little 'ol me if I'm wrong, but I take it by "Mosaic Law"/"Law of Ordinances" you are referring to such a law that also required "an eye for an eye", etc.?.....Matt 5:38-39Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also"...(KJV)
If this is the "different law" that you refer to then I concur.
ANSWER:
"An eye for an eye" is the "judgment" part of the Spiritual Law of God. Every action must, of necessity, produce a reaction, even for those who have faith in Jesus Christ, but are not aware that they have sinned.
Luke 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. (KJV)
1 Cor 3:14-15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. (KJV)
The Spiritual law of God, both the commandments, and the consequences for disobeying the commandments, is an eternal Law, which will always exist. This law is Jehovah's righteous foundation around which the whole creation revolves. This Law was broken when Adam fell. The reaction, or consequence, of Adam's fall, is that a mortal mind was imparted to mankind, and this mortal mind, or carnal mind as Paul calls it, causes us to sin continuously in their heart.
Matt 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. (KJV)
Jehovah's mercy upon fallen humanity, which does not have the strength, of itself, to stop sinning in their heart, is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ did not come to take away the Spiritual Law of God, but to fulfill it. This means that through faith in Jesus Christ, humanity is given the Mind of Christ, which is the individual's personal strength to satisfy this Royal
Law (James2:8). For everyone who rejects the Law of Sin and death (Rom. 7:23-25), which is their carnal mind, and chooses the Law of the Spirit of Life, which is in the Mind of Christ, the Royal Law is satisfied (Rom. 8:2-3).
To satisfy, or fulfill the Law, means that, when provoked, we have a righteous reaction, or response, from our heart, that does not harm our persecutor.
John 7:19 Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?
20 The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee? (KJV)
Now, since Jesus is incapable of lying or of false accusation, murder must have risen in the hearts of these Pharisees, and they didn't even know it!
So, no matter how distressed or offended we may be, to fulfill the Royal Law of Love, we must not only refrain from "saying" something hurtful in response, but neither must we "think" something hurtful. There is no Law against a righteous man. He who thinks no evil in his heart, will experience no evil, unless he chooses to do so of his own will (Jn. 10:17-18).
So, for those of us who have the Mind of Christ, we have the opportunity to have the Spiritual Law of God fulfilled in us, by living out of the Mind of Christ.
Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (KJV)
But it is no easy thing to live out of the Mind of Christ.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. (KJV)
So, I ask you,
James 4:1 From whence come wars and fighting's among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill [from your heart], and desire to have [righteousness], and cannot obtain [righteousness]: ye fight and war, yet [some of] ye have no [victory], because ye ask not [Christ, to help you be righteous].
3 [And others] ask [Christ for righteousness], and receive not
[righteousness], because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. (KJV)
That is, some Christians seek their carnal mind's idea of righteousness from Christ.
But to those Christians who,
Matt 6:33 seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; all these things shall be added unto you. (KJV)
The Law Of Ordinances which was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, is Israel's Civil Law. There are no more natural sacrifices animal, wheat, etc.
QUESTION:
We know that Jesus did not come to "Abolish" the law, but to Fulfill it in Himself...
Matt 5:17
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. (KJV)
He came and fulfilled the law for us. He kept what we could not:
Matt 22:37-40
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (KJV)
So, in saying this, Jesus does away forever with the kind of "Religion" made for those born once only of the flesh: that says, "You must or mustn't touch this, drink that, do this, buy that, sell this, own that, run laps, tithe, do it because you feel obligated; do it because you feel guilty; do it because you dread the loss of heaven, and fear having to suffer the pains of hell if you don't; do it to save the whales or win the world to Christ: do it to acquire brownie points with God; and a million and one other things....all invented by man...all being used in order to avoid coming to Christ in recognition as Lord as well as Savior...all done in rebellion against God....all being done in unbelief, in trying to fulfill or avoid the single holy requirement of God: "Faith in Jesus Christ: and ALL that Faith (trust/love/obedience) upon Him implies!" Am I right? Are you saying, then, that it is from these "Ordinances" that we have been set free...free to become slaves...bond slaves of Christ, bound by love to Him by the Spirit of Christ!? If so, then I concur!
Gal 5:14
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. (KJV)
Man - ahh yes, "Religious man apart from God" - looks on, lives by, and acts according to the outward religion, the requirement, the imitation, the ceremony, the garbage! God looks on, judges by, and acts according to the inward faith and love stirring in the heart of a true believer!
Dear Pastor Sheila, if you have anything to add or correct I am at your service.
I just want to make sure I understand you correctly. Do I? Are we in agreement?

ANSWER:
Yes, this is all true, that a spiritual relationship with Jesus Christ does away with religion.
But if we do not live out of the glory which is our inheritance (the Mind of Christ), we shall experience what is in our own heart.
Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. (KJV)
TO EVERYONE READING THIS TEACHING: Gal. 6:10, includes me whether you agree with what I have said, or whether you do not agree.
1 Cor 3:3 For ..... [if there is]..... strife, and divisions [amongst you and], ye are yet carnal and ye walk as men...(KJV)
God bless you XXXX, and everyone.
In Christ,
Pastor Sheila
QUESTION:
I have yet to hear from those who say they believe that Jesus broke the Mosaic Law, and/or that He was "above it"? (shall we say?) Anyhooooo...I'd like to hear from them and hear their explanations.>>
ANSWER:
Matt 12:1-6
1 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.
3 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;
4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. (KJV)
Matt 15:1-2
1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. (KJV)
Luke 13:14-16
14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? (KJV)
