Praise the Lord. This is "Elijah, the Man," Part 4. We will be doing verses 8 and 9 this evening. And this is turning out to be such an unusual chapter. As I prepare these two verses, I found out that verses 8 through, probably, 14 belong in the midst of our Alternate Translation.
Well, let me put it to you another way. We have these verses that we have done so far all interspersed, so at the very end of our latest -- our most recent recap, we have verses 5 to 7 interspersed in four different paragraphs. Right in the in the middle of the third paragraph, verses 8 through 14 go. Does anyone not know what I said? OK.
We are finding out that, as we discover the hidden meaning of 1 Kings 19 -- there is a hidden meaning to it. The -- what we read in 1 Kings 19, it may have been. It may have, in fact, come to pass. It may have. This may have happened to Elijah. It may not have happened to Elijah. I do not know. It may be a parable. It may never have happened. Some people say Job never existed, that the Book of Job is just a parable. I do not know.
I do not care either way because even if there was a man Elijah and he did have this experience, excuse me, there is still a hidden spiritual meaning to these events that may or may not have really happened. Can you believe that, that even though events actually happen, that the Lord orchestrated them? He caused them to come to pass so that there could be a record with a deep, spiritual, hidden meaning -- with a deep, spiritual meaning hidden underneath it for these last days. Can you believe that? OK.
So we find, or we have been found -- fi- -- we have found out, have been finding, that as we dig into these Scriptures and find out what the deep, spiritual meaning is to it, that frequently verses are reversed. Verse 7 has to come before verse 6 so that the sequence should be correct. Then we will have two or three verses that, when I put them together, I realize, to make the most sense out of them, to put them in best English, I have to intersperse verses 5, 6 and 7, for example, all the phrases in those three verses, to put them in the right sequence. Are you following me? OK.
When I did verses 8 and 9 -- well, let me say that in another way. Right now we have an interspersed Alternate Translation of verses 3 through 7, and out of all of those verses, verses 3 and 4 are all mixed up together. You can no longer tell which is verse 3 and which is verse 4, and verses 5, 6 and 7 are all interspersed and all mixed up together, and it is no longer recognizable which is verse 5, which is verse 6 and which is verse 7 because we interspersed all those verses.
Now when I do -- when I worked up verse 8 and 9, I realized that verses 8 through 14 belong in the middle of the Alternate Translation that I read to you at the end of the last meeting, OK, and that the last paragraph of that which I read to you at the last meeting, the last paragraph and a half -- and I am great read it to you again, spoke about carnal -- Elijah's carnal mind becoming spiritually weak and dying.
Now just before we start reading about that, we have a whole explanation of how Elijah got into this condition. What condition? Elijah, the prophet of God who is in a temporary condition of full stature. Let me tell you something, brothers. You do not challenge the prophets of Baal and then kill all -- what was it, 100 of them that he killed? You do not go around doing things like that unless you are at a high place in God.
So verses 8 through fourt- -- in verses 8 through 14, I suggest to you -- well, actually, verses 10 -- I am sorry, verses 10 through 14, we see Elijah -- well, I am sorry to be confusing. I will say verses 8 through 14. We see in those verses a whole explanation as to how Elijah came into this experience of being in full stature, doing this mighty work for God, and falling so far down that he crashed right back into his carnal mind. Now how in the world did that happen to a man of such high stature?
And we find, in verses 8 through 14, the answer to that, and that question, how could this happen to him, and the answer to that question, I suggest to you, sits right in the middle of our interspersed translation of verses 5 through 7. So what am I saying? The whole chapter is all messed up. Everything is out of order. That is what I am saying.
And as we -- as I looked up all these words and I found out what the Scripture is saying spiritually, we are going to take verses 8 and 9 and put them in the midst of verse -- between verses 5 and 7. And I am telling you that, in the subsequent meetings, starting with verse 10 through verse 14, those verses also will be in the midst of the interspersed verses 5 through 7. Can you hear what I am saying? Is every- -- you OK? OK.
So let us start. Recap, 1 Kings 19: 3-7, interspersed, starting with verses 3 and 4 interspersed, "And at that -- at the time that Elijah yielded to Satan's thoughts, he rebelled against Christ and deserted Him. And Elijah's human spirit was joined to Satan, and Satan strengthened Elijah's carnal mind, Satan's high priest, who was held captive by Christ. And Elijah married and had intercourse with his carnal mind, and Elijah's carnal mind rose up hostilely and sacrificed Christ unto Satan."
"And Elijah stopped worshipping Christ, and Christ vanished underneath Elijah's carnal mind. And Elijah became joined to his dead soul, and Elijah willed within himself and requested that his elder brother, the Lord Jesus Christ, should crucify his enemy, the carnal mind, and marry his hostile soul quickly. And he acknowledged that his carnal mind was not Christ, the Son of his true Father, Jehovah."
Verses 5 through 7, interspersed, "And, behold, Jehovah's high priest, the Lord Jesus Christ, came to Elijah, the one who was joined to his soul." Elijah, he was joined to his soul because the carnal mind is soul. Can you hear that? The carnal mind is soul, so if the mind in you is carnal, you are joined to your own soul.
"And, behold, Jehovah's high priest, the Lord Jesus Christ, came to Elijah, the one who was joined to his soul, and willed that Christ should be born in him and that Elijah should eat His flesh so that Christ Jesus would appear as Elijah's renewed mind. And Elijah looked, and there was his elder brother, the Lord Jesus Christ, shooting His fiery arrows into Elijah's carnal mind. And the Lord Jesus Christ wounded Elijah's carnal mind again because Elijah was worshipping her, and the Father's seed penetrated Elijah's soul and joined with his human spirit."
"And the mind of Christ arose in Elijah, and Elijah's carnal mind became spiritually weak when his Christ mind was renewed. And Elijah's carnal mind prostrated herself before Christ Jesus, and Christ Jesus tread Elijah's carnal mind underfoot. And Elijah's carnal mind dried up and died, and Satan became sick and died. And Elijah was converted, and Christ Jesus married Elijah's soul, and Elijah's soul was made alive."
Now right in the midst of those last few sentences where it says, "And the Father's seed penetrated Elijah's soul and joined with his human spirit. And the mind of Christ arose in Elijah." Right at that point, we are going to add verses 8 and 9, and, eventually, we are going to add 8 through 14. And then we will continue on to say that Elijah's carnal mind became spiritually sick and died, OK.
But right now, at that point, "And the mind of Christ arose in Elijah," right at that point we begin the parable or the story of Elijah's fall, of how it happened to him. OK, so we will do the first two verses tonight. This is very interesting. I am really enjoying this.
Continuing with 1 Kings 19:8, "And Elijah arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat 40 days and 40 nights unto Horeb the mount of God." Elijah arose, we had that word in previous verses. It is Strong's 6965. It means to exist or to go forth. It is speaking about manifestation. "And he did eat," Strong's 398. Remember from our study of previous verses that Elijah ate of the flesh of Christ. In the last message, I gave you John 6:53 as a witness that man is to eat Christ. That is the verse that is -- where Jesus is saying, "If you do not eat My flesh and drink My blood, you have no part in Me."
Today, I give you another witness, 1 Corinthians 5:7, that -- and this is another witness that we are to eat of the heavenly food, which is Christ. "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover," that means Passover lamb, "is sacrificed for us. So we are to eat of Christ, and you may recall that in the Book of Exodus the Passover Lamb was slain. The blood was put on the doorposts, and the lamb was eaten.
So Christ has been slain. Lord willing, His blood has been put on our doorposts. We learned in another series that the application of the blood is the j- -- is our justification. First we are reconciled unto God. We are permitted to have a relationship with Him. This is through faith. Some people enter into a relationship with the Lord through faith. Some people go a step further and receive the Holy Ghost. That is reconciliation.
Justification is the applying of the blood to the doorposts of our mind, and the blood is the engrafted word. The blood is the very life of Christ Himself, not the seed that has the ability to bring forth His life but the very life. Justification, the application of the blood, is speaking of the first of the two stages of union with Christ that -- and the second stage is full stature, that ultimately leads to full stature. Hallelujah, what a message.
And also he drank. Elijah arose, he ate, and he drank. We had all these terms in the last message, so let me remind you that the Hebrew word translated drank or did drink is 8354, and we found out that there is an unused verb with the same exact spelling as 8354, [?warp loom?], and we know the garment, which God is weaving to cover Himself.
And Elijah went. He arose. He did eat and drink, and he went. Strong's 3212 means to go or to walk, but after I looked up all the other words in the verse, the Lord directed me to an entry in Gesenius's Expanded Hebrew Lexicon that says that this Hebrew word, 3212, can also be translated to have intercourse with. And I want to suggest to you that that is how we are using it. I will make it clearer as we go along.
He went in the power of, or he went in the strength of, in the strength of, Strong's 3581. This Hebrew word means might, ability, strength. It is a simple word. We will take it at face value. "And he went in the strength of that meat," meat, Strong's 396. It merely means food, and I suggest to you to you that he went in the strength of Christ, that he ate the flesh of Christ and that whatever he did, he did in the spiritual strength that came from Christ.
He went, "40 days and 40 nights unto Horeb the mount of God." That is what he did, and I want to suggest to you that he did it in the spiritual power of Christ, not in any natural food that he may or may not have eaten.
Now the Hebrew word translated 40, that is very interesting. You may recall the study that we did on Jesus' temptation, and of course that study was in the Greek. And we studied the phrase that Jesus was in the wilderness 40 days and 40 nights, and that He hungered. And as we investigated that expression, 40 days and 40 nights, and as we applied it to the context of the Scripture and as we investigated it in the Greek, we used it in those sentences to mean that Jesus went from one age to another age, that the term 40 days and 40 nights, it was a round number like we say seven is the number of completion, OK. That is how we used it.
And in view of the entire context of the Scripture, we said that Jesus went from the age of the carnal mind, and He transferred into the age of Christ, that Jesus' experience at Jordan with John that Baptist was an experience by which He ascended into full stature. I have suggested to you, I believe the Scriptures bear it out, that the man, Jesus of Nazareth, was not in full stature as He approached Jordan. We found Scriptures, I believe, in Luke, which said He was praying. What was He praying for? He went to Jordan, praying that God catch Him up to full stature. I suggest to you I believe that, and He doing in fact have a spiritual experience by which His human spirit ascended and joined to the Holy Spirit, and that He stood up in full stature.
And now, listen, when Christ -- what does that mean? It means that the mind of Christ was born to His fullest measure of maturity. Brethren, that is not the end of it. Most of listening -- I would imagine, if you are listening to this tape, you are double-minded. You have the mind of Christ, and you have the carnal mind. Even at the moment that you are Christ mind ascends to the fullness of His potential strength, that is not the end of it. The carnal mind is there, trying to kill Him. Next is the temptation. The carnal mind will not let Christ stay in His turf, so it is a battle to the death of one of those two minds, OK.
So I am going to suggest to you a similar meaning in the Hebrew, although not exactly the same, a similar meaning. When I looked up the Hebrew word translated 40 in the Hebrew lexicon, Gesenius says -- which I do not believe I found this in the Greek. I always tell you that the Hebrew is a much richer language. There is more information there. Somehow I established that 40 days and 40 nights was not a literal 40 days and 40 nights.
But in the Hebrew it is really clear. And Gesenius says that this number, 40, is an established, rounded number signifying completion, as the number seven is, and that this meaning to the number 40 is common in Oriental cultures, and Oriental -- that term, Oriental, includes Arabic cultures. It does not just mean Hebrew cultures. He is speak- -- it does not mean what -- it does not mean the Chinese culture and the Japanese culture. The word Oriental includes the Arabic world. So Gesenius makes it clear that the number 40 is a symbolic number. It is a symbolic number signifying some form of completion.
So let us follow it through here. "And Elijah was -- ha- -- received enough strength from his joining with Christ to go for 40 days and 40 nights." Days, the Hebrew word translated day means the heat of the day, 3117. It refers to light. It usually means -- has something to do with Christ. And the word night, Strong's 3915, means obscurity, darkness or [?the north?], and generally has something to do with Satan.
Now you may recall from our studies in the Book of Genesis on the creation, that the mixing of day and night implies a time period or a mind which contained both light and darkness. And this whole principle in the Scripture of saying and the f- -- and the morn- -- and the evening and the morning or the first day. What the Lord is really saying is that in this measure of development of the mind of man, in this condition that the mind of man was in, there was both darkness and light. But in the beginning, the light was ruling. This is a creation of darkness and light.
And what comes to my mind right now, it has nothing to do with this message, but it is in my mind, so let me say it to you, the recent teaching that we had on a doctrine that I believe to be false and a doctrine that is pervasive in the church today saying we are not dual creatures, that duality is the sin. Duality is the sin. We are not darkness and light. We are light.
But my Bible clearly says we are both darkness and light, and the issue is who is ruling, the darkness or the light. We are dual. It is a lie that there is no duality in this creation. It is a lie that duality is a figment of our imagination. It is a lie that duality is sin. God made this creation dual. The symbol of God's creation in the beginning is the two-horned ram. The issue is not the duality. The issue is which element of the duality is ruling. That is the issue.
And the term day, I remind you from our studies in the creation, signifies the creation under the authority of the mind of Christ. And the term night signifies God's creation, which is fallen, under the authority of the carnal mind. I said to myself at one point, what is the difference between light and day? What is the difference between light and day? And we found out that the light was the mind of Christ that the Father birthed into creation, and the term day was the term used to describe the whole creation under the authority of Christ.
Darkness is the term used to describe the darkness in the creation. Her name is Satan, and night is the term that is used to describe the whole creation under the authority of the darkness.
Boy, this is technical, is it not? Sometimes my mind gets weary, but this is how God did it. And I find that as I press in, I can just tolerate more and more of this detail. Sometimes I listen to an early tape, and it is so simple to me, and at the time, it was intensely complicated. So you have got to straighten yourself. You have got to press in. Do not worry about it if you are not understanding it now. Just do the best you can. Just press in, and you are mind will grow.
Celie, could you put that on pause for a minute, please? You sure that those wheels are going? And it is not on play, it is on record, right? OK. Praise the Lord.
So for the purposes of verse 8 of Elijah -- of fir- -- of Elijah -- in the Book of Elijah -- of 1 Kings 19, I am going to suggest to you that the term 40 days and 40 nights is speaking about the 40 days, the fullness of the mind of Christ, and 40 nights, the fullness of the carnal mind. And let us put it another way. That really was not the best way to put it. The term 40 days, speaking about Elijah in his condition of being ruled by the mind of Christ, and the 40 nights, the condition of Elijah or Elijah in his condition of his whole person being ruled by the carnal mind.
And you will see, as we work this verse up and as we go on, as we put all these words together, what this Scripture is saying is that Elijah's -- is that the Christ mind, which arose in Elijah, penetrated Elijah's carnal mind. There was a joining of the 40 days and 40 nights, typifying the union or the crucifixion of the two minds. And we know that when the two minds, the carnal mind and the Christ mind, come together, that one of the ways to express this is through the word crucifixion, that it is Christ, the mind of Christ, crucifix -- crucifying the carnal mind. And the one who dies is the? The carnal mind dies. Christ does not die. The mind of Christ does not die when He comes together with the carnal mind. The carnal mind dies.
I have a witness for you with regard to the -- OK, I have a witness for you, Ephesians 2:15, to demonstrate for to you that it is a scriptural principle that there are -- it is possible to have two full minds operating in one human being, one body, one soul, two completely developed minds. That is the condition that Jesus of Nazareth was in, and then the Christ mind dominated the carnal mind at the time of the what? Not the fall. At what point did Jesus' Christ mind openly dominate the carnal mind?
[INAUDIBLE]
The what?
[INAUDIBLE]
What is the word? I was just talking about it a few minutes ago. The temptation was the encounter. OK, so that -- what I am suggesting to you right now is that as the mind of Christ arose in Elijah, there were two fully developed mind in him. That is the number 40, the 40 days, the fully developed mind of Christ, the 40 nights, the fully developed carnal mind, and that there was an encounter. There was, you might say, if you will, a temptation experience in -- within the man, Elijah.
So I give unto you, as a witness to this condition of double-mindedness, Ephesians 2:15. "Having abolished in His flesh the enmity," speaking about Jesus, of course, "the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of the twain," or of the two, "one new man, so making peace." So we see in the man, Jesus, there were two men or two minds, and of the two minds, He made peace.
You see, the two minds are at enmity, one against the other. Brethren, the flesh lusteth against the spirit, and the spirit lusteth against the flesh, and the two are at enmity, one against the other. And the peace of Christ is the crucifixion which kills the carnal mind. There is no rest until every enemy is put under your feet, even the last enemy, which is death. Glory to God.
"And he went on the strength of that meat 40 days and 40 nights unto Horeb the mount of God."
[INAUDIBLE]
The word mount is Strong's 2022, and it merely means mountain. Now a mountain is as geographical condition or a topographical condition. I am not sure which the right word is, probably topographical condition. It is a condition of the earth which signifies God in the earth. God is always in the high place. He is in the altar. He is in the exalted place, and on this earth, the high place of our physical earth is -- are the mountains. And the condition of a mountain is a -- it is God's way of demonstrating, physically, where He can be found in the mind of man. God is in the high place, so physically speaking, He is in the mountains.
But spiritually speaking, the mount of God, I suggest to you, is the mind of Christ. The Father, God, is found in His Christ. And I suggest to you that the Christ of God, the Christ, the living -- the Son of the living God, is the mountain in which the Father God is found. So if you are looking for God, you must find somebody in whom is dwelling the mind of Christ. That is where God is, and that Christ is that spiritual mountain which is typified in the Scripture -- does anybody know by which mountain?
Zion?
Mount Zion, yes, Mount Zion. And another way to say Mount Zion is Mount Sinai. The English version of Zion is Sinai. Hallelujah.
"And Elijah went in the strength of that meat 40 days and 40 nights unto Horeb the mount of God." Now the word God -- the Hebrew word translated God in this place is not Jehovah. Up until now, this account of Elijah has been speaking about Jehovah. All of a sudden, the word turns to Elohim. And you may remember from past studies that Elohim is another way of saying the Son. Jehovah is the Father, and Elohim is the Son.
So we see that Elijah is speaking to Jehovah. He is speaking to the angel of Jehovah, and now he arrives at the mount of not the Father but of the mount of the Son. So let us try and discover what is happening here. Horeb, Strong's 2722, Gesenius says that Mount Horeb is a lower summit of Mount Sinai or Mount Zion from which one ascends to the [?stop?]. It is -- ascends to the top. It is a stepping stone to the top of Zion. There are two steps to the top of Zion. First, you go to Mount Horeb. Then you get to the top of Mount Zion.
And I will tell you up front that the -- Mount Horeb is typifying the immature imparted anointing. Does anybody remember another name for that experience, the immature imparted anointing, anybody? It is the engrafted word. The engrafted word is the beginning or the first step into the imparted anointing, and the second step of the imparted anointing is -- anybody know? Full stature.
[?Full stature?].
Full stature. So I am suggesting to you that, symbolically speaking, Mount Horeb, the lower summit of Zion or Sinai, is speaking about an experience that we call the engrafted word. It is the beginning of union with Christ. We have called it an immature imparted anointing, the beginning of the imparted anointing, the first step of the imparted anointing. Standing up in full stature is an experience. It is a process. It is a procedure. It is not a rapture. It does not happen at the snap of our fingers. It is an experience. It takes time.
And there are two levels that you can attain to, just like in the- -- in our society today. You can go to college for two years and get an associate's degree, and then you go on and for two more years, and you get your four-year or your bachelor's degree. Well, if you are looking for full stature, brethren, you first have to stop off at Mount Horeb, and you have to get the engrafted word. You do not go from having the Holy Ghost to full stature. You have to follow the yellow brick path, no shortcuts. Hallelujah. Glory to God.
We see this concept of a lower summit of -- well, let me -- did I make it clear to you that Mount Zion is the mind of Christ? Spiritually speaking, Mount Zion is the mind of Christ, so there are two steps or two stages of spiritual experiences by which we ascend into the fullness of the mind of Christ, which is not just existing but has -- is dominating the carnal mind, to ascend into a condition of mind whereby we are possessed of the mind of Christ which is dominating and controlling the carnal mind. We must make this journey in two steps, the engrafted word and then the actual ascendancy to full spiritual strength and the domination of the Christ mind -- by the Christ mind of the carnal mind.
I guess, actually, we could say it is in three stages if you want to look at it that way, the engrafted word, the full maturity, the ascendancy to full maturity of the Christ mind and then the domination of the carnal mind by the Christ mind, which we -- which was demonstrated in Jesus' experience called the temptation. Hmm, so we do have three stages then, OK.
I would like to take you back to an old series that we did and show you this concept demonstrated in Daniel 7. I believe I got this information out of our series, "Daniel's Beasts." I think it was Part 9 if I am not mistaken, either Part 9 or Part 10. The Lord Jesus Christ imparts -- well, here it is. It is in verse 16. In Daniel 7:16, we see spiritual knowledge being imparted to Daniel in three stages.
Number one, the Lord Jesus Christ imparts knowledge to Daniel's carnal mind, and this is expressed by Daniel's words, "And He told me." Someone outside of Daniel spoke to him, outside of him, separate from him. In our experience today, we might say the Holy Ghost spoke to me, the Holy Ghost that is not engrafted to my own human spirit. The Holy Ghost is separate from me, and He spoke to me, stage one. OK.
Stage two, the Lord Jesus Christ comes down to and joins with the human spirit of Daniel's carnal mind, and this is expressed by Daniel's word, "That I would know the truth of the fourth beast." He was speaking directly to the Lord Jesus Christ which had joined with him. The Spirit of Christ joined with Daniel's human spirit and engrafted. This is the first stage of the imparted anointing. Je- -- Daniel was no longer speaking to someone outside of him. He was speaking to someone within his own mind.
And the third stage is the Lord Jesus Christ catches Daniel's human spirit up into the Christ mind, and Christ actually becomes Daniel's mind. That is full stature, and speaks through him, causing Daniel to prophesy the future of God's creation, as expressed by Daniel's words, "Thus He said." Jesus.
Mount Horeb, the lower summit of Mount Zion, is the engrafted word or the first stage of the imparted anointing, and Mount Zion signifies the pinnacle or the top or the high place of the mountain of Elohim, not the mountain of Jehovah now, the mountain of Elohim. And I suggest to you that this mountain of Elohim is describing full stature in the mind of Christ. You see, it is not the mountain of Jehovah. It is not the mind of Jehovah. It is the Son. It is the mind of Christ. Mount Zion, the mind of Christ, Mount Horeb, the first stage of the mind of Christ developing in you, also known as the engrafted word.
So let me just say this again. So we see that to get to the place, to get to Mount Zion, it comes in -- well, I think I gave you a double message here. Let me clarify this. The actual experience of full stature, we have now discovered, is in three stages. The first stage is the engrafted word. The second stage is full stature, the full development of the mind of Christ. And the third stage is the domination of the carnal mind by the mind of Christ.
What I just read to you about Daniel was a little different, and what happened was that as I was teaching, God gave me addition revelation. That is what just happened. So just for the tape, let me clarify what happened here. What I said to you about Daniel was a little different than the three stages of the imparted anointing. What I just read to you was the three stages of communication between the Lord Jesus Christ and the prophet Daniel.
First, the Lord Jesus Christ approached Daniel in a form [?like to?] the approach of the Holy Spirit to a new believer in this hour, imputed anointing, no union at all, just a relationship. And then the second step of the Lord in approaching Daniel was the He joined with his mind, the engrafted word. And the third step of the Lord approaching Daniel was that the mind of Christ completely possessed Daniel and dominated his carnal mind. But, apparently, when I worked this up three years ago, I did not perceive the domination of the carnal mind by Christ as a separate step. Can you hear that?
The third step -- let me say it again. The third step of communication between God and Daniel was that the mind of Christ was formed in Daniel and completely dominated his mind and became his mind, OK. So in that, what I just said to you, were two steps, that the mind of Christ was fully formed in Daniel, and then that fully-formed mind of Christ dominated, put down under the carnal mind. And those two stages I did not make clear apparently in Tape 71, which I am repeating to you. Are you OK? OK. Praise God.
OK, let us go on. We are still dealing with this one verse, verse 8. "And Elijah arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat 40 days and 40 nights unto Horeb the mount of God."
OK, let us go on. What are we up to here? OK, I have -- before I give you the Alternate Translation here, I have a correction of something that I taught you in the last message or two. In the previous messages, I told you that when Christ arose in Elijah, Elijah's soul was repaired. Remember, we had the threads on the board at the last meeting. Elijah's soul was repaired. But the Lord has shown me that it was not Elijah's soul that was repaired but his mind that was repaired. God's garment is not the soul. God's garment is the mind, and the soul is God's house.
Let me put those threads on the board for you again because Mary was not here, so let me take a minute to redo that. We found that a definition of the word, to drink -- we are told Elijah ate -- did eat and did drink, and that another definition of that Hebrew word translated to drink could be the warp of the garment. And we first discovered in the 38 series, and we found it in other places, hidden messages about the warp of God's garment, which is Satan. Satan is the warp of God's garment. So let me put this on the board for you.
When a garment is woven, there is a woof which goes from -- it is a vertical line, and the woof is the Lord Jesus Christ. It goes from heaven down to the earth. He is always coming down from the heavens down to the earth. That is the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, of course, in a natural garment, these threads are much closer together. And Satan is the woof. He goes along the line of the earth, and we see a garment being woven.
And what I taught when I put it on the board Sunday was that it was the Lord Jesus Christ being interwoven with the soul and that, therefore, the soul was being renewed. And the Lord has shown me that, no, it is the Lord Jesus Christ being interwoven -- it is the -- I am sorry. It is the mind that is renewed. It is not the soul that is renewed. It is the mind that is renewed, OK, and then the mind sits in the soul.
And how is the mind renewed? This really excited me because we had been talking a lot about the renewal of the mind, that to renew that mind, to renew that carnal mind, the whole carnal mind has to be dissolved, that the flesh has to be removed and that the human spirit has to be suctioned out of the mind and rejoined to the Lord Jesus Christ, and that our mind is renewed when our human spirit is removed from Satan and the carnal mind, joined to the Lord Jesus Christ and becomes married to Christ, that the renewal of the carnal mind is not taking the whole carnal mind and making that which is evil good.
But it is the breaking down of the three components of the carnal mind, breaking it down into Satan, Eve and the carnal mind and getting Eve out of there and now joining her to a new husband, Paul says in Romans 6, I believe. I hope I have the right chapter, either 6 or 7. Paul talks about being joined to a new husband. Our human spirit is joined to the Lord Jesus Christ, and Christ is formed, and that is having our mind renewed in the spirit of the mind. Actually, it is just our human spirit that is in the carnal mind that is being renewed. Is everybody OK?
So what we find here in this account of Elijah is that his mind is being renewed. I do not know about you. It just really excited me because it is everything I have been teaching about the renewal of the mind, and I did not realize it until I was going over these Scriptures. This joining of Elijah to the mind of Christ as it formed in him is an experience for Elijah of having his mind renewed. That is what we are preaching here. We are hoping for it. We are waiting for it, that the Lord should come and break down our carnal mind and suction out our human spirit, that she might join herself to her new husband and that forever we should be with the Lord. This is what happened to Elijah. He had this experience.
And we found words that meant to be renewed or to be repaired. We found a Hebrew word that was translated, to be repaired. It is the word, "And Elijah did drink." One translation of that word is that the warp of the garment should be repaired, and I thought that the garment was the soul when I preached the last -- when I preached Elijah, Part 3. I preached it that the garment being repaired was the soul, but the Lord has told me, no, the garment being repaired is the mind.
Elijah's mind was Christ. It got sick, and it became carnal, and it needed repair. It got a big fat hole in it. Let me show you the hole it got in it. The hole that God's garment got in it -- I will show it to you on the board. You see these threads going in opposite directions? This is a picture of a healthy garment. The warp is going one way. The woof is going the other way, and we've got a well-woven garment.
But when c- -- when Elijah's carnal mind got up out from under the pit, what happened was Elijah entertained ungodly thoughts. He agreed with those thoughts. He went into rebellion, and by doing that, he gave power to the warp of God's garment. He gave power to the threads going along the horizontal line of the earth.
And what did those threads do? The name of those threads is Satan. Now what did Satan do as soon as he received power? Satan does not want to go along the lines of the earth. Satan wants to be God. He wants to do what God does, so as soon as Satan could get out, he went into a vertical position. Satan refused to be the warp of the garment and go along the line of the earth.
So we had a whole bunch of threads. Some of them were Christ, and some of them were Satan, but they were all going in the right direction, in -- not in the right direction, in the same direction. They were all going in the same direction, and God's garment, the garment of the Father, which is the mind, got a big hole in it because the woof -- the warp of the garment was not there anymore, and, therefore, the garment of the Lord needed to be repaired.
And when the mind of Christ was formed in Elijah, again, what He did was lay hold of the rebellious Satan and force him out from a vertical position into the horizontal position. And, therefore, God's garment or God's mind was repaired. So we could say the mind in fallen man, the mind which is born of the flesh, is a mind which has no warp. It has no threads going along the line of the earth. All the threads in the carnal mind are vertical. They are going up and down. We have got a mind with a big, gaping hole in it. It is a wound. It is missing an integral part of what it needs to be functioning. That is why we are in all the trouble that we are in.
We have got the woman in the man's role, and she is doing a messed up job. We see it happening in our homes today. The woman is in the man's role, and no one is doing the woman's role. No one is doing the woman's job, and the society and the family is collapsing. You see, it is not -- for years, wealthy families in Europe and in the United States had women in them who went to work, who were educated, who had careers. But because there was money in the family, they always had nannies in the household. There was someone in the household in -- performing the role of the woman.
But what we see more and more today are households and families that are not particularly wealthy, but both the man and the woman work. And for whatever reason, there is no nanny. There is no one in the household in the role of female. And the family is lopsided, and it is sick, and the children are sick and spiritually deformed because there is no female in the family. Everybody is a man.
And we see this demonstrated with -- in this diagram of the threads of the garment, not only of God's mind, but the threads of the garment which is society falling apart because the people were in many instances -- the people who were supposed to be fulfilling the role of the warp, those who were supposed to be performing the earthy functions are not doing it. Neither have they brought someone else into the family or into the household who is willing to or who is being paid to do it.
And a family like that is a malfunctioning family. It cannot work. [?There?] has to be some provision made for the female role. These latchkey children that have no one to come home to, the society is becoming perverse. It has to -- I am not saying women cannot work. Do not misunderstand me. There has to be a provision made to provide a female relationship towards these children. It could be a grandmother. It could be a nanny that you hire, but there is got to be somebody there in that role, or the children will not develop properly. The family will not develop properly, and the society will not develop properly. You have a garment with a big, gaping hole in it.
OK, let us go on. So I wanted to bring that correction. From now on I will be saying that Elijah's mind was repaired, not his soul. His soul did not break. His mind was damaged. His soul was not damaged. His mind was damaged. It went from the mind of Christ to the carnal mind.
And as a witness to you that the renewing of the mind is in the spirit, I give you Ephesians 4:23. "And be renewed in the spirit of your mind." The renewal of the mind is in the spirit. It is in the divorce of the human spirit from Satan and her remarriage to her new husband, which is Christ. Hallelujah.
I suggest to you, then, that Elijah had a spiritual experience in which Christ Jesus was formed in his mind, and Elijah ate Christ Jesus' flesh, or we could say was joined to Christ Jesus in his human spirit, thus repairing or renewing his mind from the carnal mind unto the immature mind of Christ or unto a condition where the word was engrafted in him, and that the result of this spiritual renewal was that Elijah's human spirit ascended from a condition of full union with his carnal mind up into the lower level of the mind of Christ, which we see in the parable described as Mount Horeb. He ascended up into the lower level of the mind of Christ, which is the engrafted word. And the -- that the engrafting of the word of God to a man's human spirit is the first of two steps. Well, we now found out three steps which result in full union with the mind of Christ. Hallelujah.
Gesenius also says, just for the record, in case anyone checks me out, Gesenius also says that Horeb, in some societies, is also considered to have been a general name for the whole mountain of which Zion is only a part. Now that is the exact opposite of what I told you before, but both definitions were in Gesenius, that Zion is the whole mountain, and Horeb is a part, and then there are other areas that say Horeb is the whole mountain, and Zion is a part of that.
So this is my response to that information. Even -- whichever is true, our translation still stands. Elijah entered into the mountain of God. I have chosen the first translation, that Horeb is the lower summit, because it just seems to make more sense, and it gives more information, i.e., that Elijah entered into the mount of God at the beginning of two stages. If we take the second translation and say that Elijah entered into the mountain of God, that is valid. But if we take the translation that Horeb was the lower summit, then it tells us that Elijah not only entered into the mountain of God but entered into the first stage of it or the lower summit it, which makes sense. We know it to be true.
Alternate Translation, 1 Kings 19:8, "And the -- and Christ Jesus arose in Elijah, and Elijah's human spirit, [?his mind?], began to be renewed because renewal is a process, and they were married" [AUDIO CUTS OUT] -- Elijah to Christ [INAUDIBLE] mind into the mountain of God. I did not tell you. That is a literal translation.
Let me give it to you a phrase at a time. And He arose, and Christ Jesus arose in Elijah, and did eat and drink, and Elijah's human spirit joined with the flesh of Christ. He ate, and he did drink, and Elijah's mind began to be renewed. Remember, renewal is in the repairing of the garment. And went in the strength of that meat, and went in the strength, and they were -- hmm, the strength of that meat, that food, is Christ.
And they were married. They were joined together. That word went, I think, we said it could be translated intercourse. Let me see where I found that. Are you putting that on hold while I am hesitating?
We found out that the Hebrew word translated went can be translated to have intercourse, and that is how I am using it here. And he went in the strength of that meat, and he went, and they were married in the strength of that meat, because of the strength of Christ, 40 days, the Christ mind, and 40 nights, the carnal mind, unto Horeb, the mountain of God, unto the mountain of God.
OK, now I have put it in better English for you. And the Christ -- and Christ Jesus arose in Elijah, and Elijah's human spirit joined with the flesh of Christ, and Elijah's mind began to be renewed, and Christ Jesus was strong enough to marry Elijah's carnal mind and Elijah into the mountain of God.
Now please note that our Alternate Translation is missing a verb there. That last phrase says, "And Elijah into the mountain of God." It is missing a verb, and we are going to take the verb from verse 9. "And he came thither." We are going to use that verb, came. "And Elijah came into the mountain of God."
Also please note that our Alternate Translation says that Elijah began to be renewed, and we can say this because renewal is not complete until we enter into full stature. Also please note that the phrase, "Christ Jesus was strong enough in the strength of the meat," Christ Jesus was strong enough, that phrase implies that Elijah's carnal mind did not marry Christ willingly but had to be forced into the marriage. It took the strength of Christ to cause this marriage. Another way of saying this marriage is this crucifixion. The carnal mind did not agree to it, so we see that that was forced.
And also please note that in this crucifixion, that this crucifixion -- I pretty much gave you this already, results in the breaking down of the carnal mind, which causes the flesh of the carnal mind to dissolve, we might say. The marital union is between the mind of Christ and man's human spirit. The unified Christ and the human spirit are the woof of the mind of Christ, and Satan, against his will, is the warp of the mind of Christ. Satan must be taken captive and held in the position of the warp of the garment against his will.
This is what was meant when the Lord said to the man in the garden, "Keep the garden." Keep Satan in his place, down underneath, woven underneath the threads of Christ. Because if you do not keep him down there, he is going to jump up and fall into the spiritual role, and your garment, your mind, will fall apart. Can you imagine weaving a garment where the threads -- where the warp of the garment had a woof of its own and if you did not keep it [?underfeet?] the warp of that garment would jump up and become the woof, and the your whole garment would fall apart? This is a living garment.
[INAUDIBLE]
Yeah, it is a living garment, and the warp does not want to be the warp. He wants to be the woof, so you have got two choices. Either you become the woof -- or you have three choices. Either you become the woof, which means you are a man that is going to become a woman, OK, or you enslave this thing against his will. You enslave the warp of the garment against his will, or your garment, which is your mind, falls apart.
And we see that in our society today. Men are being confronted with a choice, in some instances, with aggressive women. Either you let the woman enter into the male role and you become the woman in the marriage, or you battle with her and you force her into the female role, or the society falls apart.
And what is happening? The society is falling apart because most men will not be forced into a female role, and because of the way things are going, it would not even -- outside of Christ, it is not even godly to force the woman into a female role. So the fabric of the society is -- has a big, gaping hole in it. It is going to take Christ to put it back together again. OK.
And as a witness, 1 Corinthians 6:17, "But he is joined unto the Lord is one spirit," so Christ and the human spirit become one spirit, the woof of that garment, and the warp is Satan. Please note -- oh, OK, I told you that already.
OK, so we are taking the phrase, "And he came thither," from verse 9, and we are adding it to the end of verse 8. The word came is Strong's 935, and it can be translated to enter into the house of a husband. That is how we will use it. And the Hebrew word translated there is Strong's 8033. It means at that time.
And the Chri- -- and," hmm -- "and Christ Jesus arose in Elijah, and Elijah's human spirit joined with the flesh of Christ, and Elijah's mind began to be renewed. And Christ Jesus was strong enough to penetrate Elijah's carnal mind, and Elijah entered into the first stage of union with Christ," speaking about the engrafted word.
Amplified translation 1 Kings 19:8, "And Christ Jesus arose in Elijah and was strong enough to penetrate Elijah's carnal mind. And Elijah's human spirit clave unto Him, and as Elijah entered into the first stage of union with Christ, his mind began to be renewed." Hallelujah.
Continuing with 1 Kings 19:9, the first phrase, "And he came thither," is not there. It was transferred to the end of verse 8, so verse 9 reads, "Unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the Word of the Lord came to him, and said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?"
We will restate verse 9, putting it in better English since we used the first phrase for verse 8. Verse 9, restated, "And he," or, "And Elijah lodged unto a cave there, and, behold, the Word of the Lord came to him, and He said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?"
The word lodged is Strong's 3885. It means to pass the night. Remember, now, the night is the whole creation or the whole of Elijah's person under the lordship of the carnal mind. Elijah passed out of his carnal mind. He passed out of -- what part of him passed out of his carnal mind? His human spirit passed out of his carnal mind. It has to pass out before he can cleave unto Christ.
"And he came unto a cave," the word translated cave is 4631. Now there is nothing much said in Gesenius about this word translated cave. It merely means a cave, but it does come from a root, Gesenius says, Strong's 5783. When I looked up Strong's 5783, I found out that there were four different Hebrew words with the same, exact spelling under three different numbers in Strong's, numbers 5782 through 5784, showing four -- showing this same exact spelling, listed four times with different definitions for each spelling, for each time.
And you may recall me telling you that this is common in the Hebrew, and what it results from is an inability, on the translator's part, to reconcile the variation in the definitions of one word, frequently, meaning exact opposites. So what that translators do is they give -- they take a word like this, even though it is spelled exactly the same, they give it another number. And they say this number means this, and that number means that, and that number means that, but spelling-wise, they are all the same word.
So Gesenius refers us to Strong's 5783, and that was Gesenius's way of relating the word cave to this word, which meant to dig or something like that. But we are choosing another word with the same, exact spelling, which makes sense with our spiritual translation. And that is Strong's number 5782, which can be translated to arouse from sleep or to raise up. Now the -- Gesenius would never chose a word, even though it is the same spelling as the root, that says to raise up or arouse from sleep. It makes no sense at all in the natural translation here.
"And Elijah came to a cave and lodged there." Actually, this translation is the exact opposite of the spiritual meaning. "And Elijah came to a cave and spent the night there," but we are finding the spiritual translation to mean, "And Elijah passed through the night of his carnal mind, and he was aroused from the sleep of death as he entered into the mind of Christ." So we see the translation should be the exact opposite of what is in the King James. Glory to God.
The Hebrew word translated there means at that time, and, in the phrase, "The Word of the Lord," the Hebrew word translated word is logos. And I remind you that the logos is the living personification of the Spirit of God. It is an -- the logos is speaking of an image which represents the invisible Spirit of God in its fullness and in its totality. "The word of the Lord," the word -- Hebrew word translated Lord is Jehovah, and the word came is not in the Hebrew.
Here is our Alternate Translation, 1 Kings 19:9, "And Elijah passed out of his carnal mind and was aroused from sleep, and there he was, the living expression of Jehovah. And Elijah said to himself, how did I fall down from full stature to this low spiritual place?"
Now look at this. "And Elijah passed out of his carnal mind and was aroused from sleep, and there was, the living expression of Jehovah." Now, of course, you think that Elijah saw a vision and that Christ appeared to Elijah outside of him. But I want to suggest to you that Elijah passed out of his carnal mind and that he was aroused from sleep, which means the mind of Christ was arising in him.
And I want to tell you that Elijah was an expression and a manifestation of the life of Christ in his own flesh. That same flesh, that same man, that same soul, that same personality which was carnal, now that the mind in him was Christ, made him Elijah, not some vision outside of him, but made Elijah the very expression of the mind of God. Can you hear that? Are you OK? You are OK?
[INAUDIBLE]
Glory to God. "And there He was, the Word of the Lord, and He said unto him, what are you doing here, Elijah?" So the King James translates it that Elijah spent the night in a cave. He went to sleep. He spent the night in a cave, and while he was sleeping, he had this vision of an angel that says, what are you doing in this cave?
But I say unto you, no, Elijah, as he was delivered by the Lord Jesus Christ, went through a spiritual experience which enabled him to pass out of his carnal mind, his human spirit to pass out of his carnal mind to cleave unto Christ. The mind of Christ was formed in Elijah, and when the mind of Christ was formed in him, Elijah became Christ. And He said, what in the world happened to Me? How did I get here? How did I wind up in this condition? The last thing I remembered, I was killing those prophets of Baal, and I cannot remember anything. How did I get here? Like a man coming out of an amnesia attack.
And I want to suggest to you that the Christ mind in Elijah was saying that. What happened to me? And I would like to further suggest to you that the following verses, verses 10 through 14, is Elijah's carnal mind explaining to his Christ mind what happened to him because Elijah's carnal mind knew what happened. Elijah's carnal mind remembered what happened, just to give you a preview.
Verse 10, Elijah's carnal mind said, I suggest to you, "I have been very jealous of the Lord God of Hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant and thrown down thy altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away." And the Christ mind in Elijah said to him, "Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord."
I suggest to you this is a conversation between the two minds within Elijah, and we found that principle when we did the in- -- word-by-word study of the interpretation of Daniel chapter 8. You may recall, Daniel's carnal mind was a witness to a conversation between the Lord Jesus Christ and Christ Jesus, both of them within his own mind, and he was flabbergasted.
And I suggest to you that Elijah is having an outstanding spiritual experience, and at this point, he is having a convers- -- there is a conversation between Elijah's Christ mind and Elijah's carnal mind, OK. And I suggest to you that this is a manifestation of the temptation.
Now whose mind is going to prevail? Is it the carnal mind, which is saying -- I do not even know if this is a correct translation yet, but as I look at it on the surface, Elijah's carnal mind is saying, well, I am the only that is left, and they are trying to kill me, if that is what it really says. I do not know yet. But in the event that that is what it really says, the Christ mind in Elijah says otherwise. The Christ mind says, do not stop here. Continue to ascend. I will give you instructions how to get back into full stature.
And as we see down in verse 14, verse 15, by the time we get to verse 15, the mind of Christ has completely dominated the carnal mind and is giving Christ Jesus instruction as to a man in full stature. And we find out in verse 19 that Elijah executes that command. The carnal mind has com- -- the mind of Christ has completely dominated the carnal mind.
So we see Elijah, a man with the carnal mind, we see him cry out for help. We see the Lord Jesus Christ answer his prayer. We see Christ Jesus formed in Elijah. Then we see an Elijah with two minds, having a conversation between his carnal mind and his Christ mind, and then we see the Christ mind prevailing. How do we know the Christ mind has prevailed? Elijah obeys, in human, physical, behavior, the instruction of the Christ mind, and he goes right back into the battle.
So we know that Elijah or that Christ in Elijah has won the temptation and fully and completely dominated Elijah's carnal mind. And Elijah is once again in full stature, but it is an imputed full stature. It is not a permanent full stature because Elijah existed before the time that a permanent full stature was possible. To be permanently in full stature is only possible in -- since the Lord Jesus Christ appeared on the earth in the flesh and gave up that soul life and was crucified and asc- -- and raised from the dead and ascended. Now this experience of full stature is available to us on a permanent condition. But in Elijah's condition, he was in full stature, but the Scripture clearly shows us it was not permanent. He could lose it.
How do we know how many times Elijah lost his full stature and had to cry out to the Lord Jesus Christ in spirit form to help him and to save him? We do not really know how many times it happened. Maybe it happened once a month. I do not know. I do not know about you, but I find this message very exciting.
Let me read you the Alternate Translation again of verse 9. "And Elijah passed out of his carnal mind and was aroused from sleep, and there he was, the living expression of Jehovah, and Elijah said to himself, how did I fall down from full stature to this low spiritual place?"
What did I do here? OK, I thought I had an amplified translation of that, but I guess I am missing a page here. Are we --
[INAUDIBLE]
Alternate -- well, I guess this should be amplified translation here. Amplified translation, 1 Kings 19:9, "And Elijah's human spirit passed out of his carnal mind, and Elijah was aroused from his -- from sleep and became Christ, the living expression of Jehovah, hallelujah, and Elijah said to himself, how did I fall down from full stature to this low spiritual place?"
Let me read it to you again. "And Elijah's human spirit passed out of his carnal mind, and Elijah was aroused from sleep and became Christ, the living expression of Jehovah, and Elijah said to himself, or Elijah said to his carnal mind, how did I fall down from full stature to this low spiritual place?" Glory to God.
And you might find it interesting to know that I have had -- I have experienced the Christ mind in me instructing my carnal mind. I have experienced it. I talk to myself frequently, and it is a reality of my life.
Recap, 1 Kings 19:8-9, "And Christ Jesus arose in Elijah and was strong enough to penetrate Elijah's carnal mind, and Elijah's human spirit clave unto Him. And as Elijah entered into the first stage of union with Christ, his mind began to be renewed."
Verse 9, "And Elijah's human spirit passed out of his carnal mind, and Elijah was aroused from sleep and became Christ, the living expression of Jehovah. And Elijah said to himself, how did I fall down from full stature to this low spiritual place?" Or, "Elijah said to his carnal mind, how did I fall down from full stature to this low spiritual place?"
Verses 8 and 9, interspersed, "And Christ Jesus arose in Elijah with enough strength to penetrate Elijah's carnal mind, and Elijah's human spirit passed out of his carnal mind and clave unto Christ. And Elijah was aroused from the sleep of death, and as Elijah's mind began to be renewed, he was becoming Christ, the living expression of Jehovah. And Elijah said to his carnal mind, how in the world did I fall down from full stature into this low spiritual place?"
That really blessed me. Well, I do have -- I do not know if you want to listen to it. Let me put it on the tape. Bear with me. I have verses 3 through 9, and I have interspersed verses 8 and 9 where I believe they belong. Just bear with me. It is really important.
Verses 3 and 4, 1 Kings 19:3-9, "And at the time that Elijah yielded to Satan's thoughts, he rebelled against Christ and deserted Him, and Elijah's human spirit was joined to Satan. And Satan strengthened Elijah's carnal mind, Satan's high priest who was held captive who is held captive by Christ, and Elijah married and had intercourse with his carnal mind."
"And Elijah's carnal mind rose up hostilely and sacrificed Christ unto Satan, and Elijah stopped worshipping Christ, and Christ vanished underneath Elijah's carnal mind.
Verses -- well, this is verses 5 through 7. I guess it is verses 5, 8, 9 and 7. I cannot even tell you the order anymore. Well, just listen to it. "And, behold, Jehovah's high priest, the Lord Jesus Christ, came to Elijah, the one who was joined to his soul, and willed the Christ Jesus should be born in him and that Elijah should eat His flesh so that Christ Jesus would appear as his renewed mind. And Elijah looked, and there was his elder brother, the Lord Jesus Christ, shooting His fiery arrows into Elijah's carnal mind. And the Lord Jesus Christ wounded Elijah's carnal mind again because Elijah was worshipping her. "
"And the Father's seed penetrated Elijah's soul and joined with his human spirit." This is the beginning of verses 8 and 9. "And Christ Jesus arose in Elijah with enough strength to penetrate Elijah's carnal mind, and Elijah's human spirit passed out of his carnal mind and clave unto Christ. And Elijah was aroused from the sleep of death as Elijah's mind began to be renewed, and he was becoming Christ, the living expression of Jehovah. And Elijah said to his carnal mind, how in the world did I fall down from full stature into this low place?" That is the end of verses 8 and 9.
"And Elijah's carnal mind became spiritually weak when his Christ mind was renewed, and Elijah's carnal mind prostrated herself before Christ Jesus. And Christ Jesus tread Elijah's carnal mind underfoot, and Elijah's carnal mind dried up and died. And Satan became sick and died, and Elijah was converted. And Christ Jesus married Elijah's soul, and Elijah's soul was made alive."
And I suggest to you, before I added that last part on, "And Elijah's carnal mind became spiritually weak," before that is going to come verses 10 through 14, the whole account of what -- of Elijah's carnal mind reporting to his Christ what happened.
And if you have seen any movies about multiple personality or if you have listened to the teaching here about multiple personality, brethren, this is it. Elijah's carnal mind came up, and his Christ mind went down, and his Christ mind really did not know what happened. So as that Christ mind manifested, Elijah's carnal mind had to report to the -- Elijah's carnal mind had to report to Elijah's Christ mind what happened when the Christ mind was sleeping. Can you hear this?
And I want to tell you again this is a reality. I experienced it not too long ago. It was a very exciting experience. I had no idea whatsoever that Christ was going to manifest in full stature. It was just for a moment. He just manifest in full stature for a moment. What does that mean? For this moment, the Christ mind in me completely crushed my carnal mind, and the Christ mind had complete possession of me. There was no warning whatsoever that He was going to do it to me.
All I know was that everything went black, and I felt my body swing around. When everything went black, I had no awareness that my eyes had closed. I just knew that everything went black, and my body swung around. I had an awareness of my eyes opening, and as my eyes opened, I was eyeball to eyeball with what I believe that the Lord has told me is a bla- -- wha- -- at the time I did not know it, but the Lord has told me was a black witch, a man, and I was staring right into his eyes, challenging him, and I knew it was not me.
So my awareness was that everything went black. My body spun around, and I remember my eyes opening, and it was not until a couple of months later that I even realized that everything had gone black because my eyes had closed, just like you see in the movies, brethren. My eyes closed, and Christ came up in full stature. Why your eyes have to close while this transition is taking place, I do not know, but it is real. If you see it in the movies, it is real because it happened to me.
And for your further information, which I cannot explain to you, when my Christ mind went down, which was very fast, it was a very brief challenge of this man who was a warlock that I did not -- but I did not know it. And right after that eyeball-to-eyeball contact, it could not have been more than a couple of minutes, Christ in me went down, and there was no closing of the eyes. He just went down, and I was myself again. Do you hear it?
When Christ came up in full stature, my eyes closed as the carnal mind was crushed, but when Christ receded and I went back to a condition of human being who moves in some measure in Christ -- I am a mixture, even in my everyday life. At this point in my development, I am a mixture of the carnal mind and Christ. So when Christ descended from full stature back into the mixture, my eyes did not close. But when I went from the mixture to sudden full stature, my eyes closed. I live for experiences like that. It was just very exciting.
And for your information, the warlock knew that I was challenging him. I do not know whether the warlock knew that it was Christ in me because I would not be challenging any warlock to tell you the truth, but Christ had laid hold of my body and my personality and challenged this warlock. Now whether the warlock kn- -- thought that it was me, and for all intents and purposes, it was me, or that he knew that it was the mind of Christ in me, I doubt that he had that kind of revelation. He must have just thought that I was some Christian who for some reason knew who he was and was challenging him. Glory to God.
Any questions about this message?
I really want to understand. What was his sin?
Elijah's sin?
Was it his double-mindedness?
No. It tells us at the beginning here, in verses 3 and 4. "At the time that Elijah yielded to Satan's thoughts, he rebelled against Christ." So first -- the sin is twofold. Elijah listened to Satan's thought. He entertained them. Then he yielded to them. Then he rebelled against Christ. See, when a thought of Satan comes in our mind, it must be immediately cast down, immediately recognized as sin and crushed because if you consider it, the next step is that you -- what did I say the next step was? You yield to it. You consider it. You yield to it, and then the rebellion becomes yours.
What was Satan's thoughts?
Fear. Jezebel had threatened Elijah's life. In verse 2 of chapter 19, Jezebel says -- the verse says that Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, "So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by" -- one of my dead prophets, "by to morrow about this time." Now I do not know what Christ's instruction was to Elijah, but it certainly was not to be afraid, and Satan's thought was fear.
[?One more?] question. So if that is fear, does that mean all of God's people go through the same thing? They lose the mind of Christ, and they have to be reconverted?
Oh, yeah.
Each day, [?all through the day?]?
Well, not necessarily. Everybody is a different case. It depends on how young or mature you are. I know that as recently as two years ago, I was losing the mind of Christ a lot. You will hear it on my tapes from a year or two ago, how I was losing the mind of Christ, you know, maybe not every day, but even every couple of weeks or every couple of months, and I was powerless to stand up. I know I have that on a few tapes. I was powerless to stand up, and there was nothing I could do but just wait in this condition of weakness, of spiritual weakness, for the Lord to restore me. And somewhere along the line, I cannot even tell you when it was, I have been increased in Christ because it is a rare thing for it to happen to me now. It is a rare thing.
So trauma or traumatic fear that [?we cause?] -- he had already killed 950 prophets.
Was it 950?
[CROSSTALK] 950 because it was 450 of Baal's and 400 of Jezebel's that were under [?the grove?] [CROSSTALK]. So if he is in that state, imagine what he is going to do for us.
Yes.
The fear [INAUDIBLE], wow.
Yeah. Well, that must be pretty traumatic, having the queen of the country, you know, swear that you will be dead by this time tomorrow. It is shocking.
Why would you entertain the thought that Elijah was not a natural man? [INAUDIBLE] transfiguration [INAUDIBLE] Moses was [INAUDIBLE] Elijah [INAUDIBLE]
That is a good point. He would have to have lived, actually lived. That is a good point. You are absolutely correct.
Elijah was in full stature [INAUDIBLE]. I thought, at that point, your mind was paralyzed.
There is -- this gets very confusing, but there apparently is such a thing. For lack of a better word, I call it a temporary full stature, which existed before the days of the flesh of our Lord Jesus Christ. And it was a condition that God caught the prophets up to in according with His own purposes, but it did not abide. It was for a season.
Now in the case of Daniel and the other prophets, I believe that the mind of Christ -- a temporarily formed mind of Christ would come upon the prophet and seize their carnal mind and paralyze it to give them a revelation or a prophecy or for whatever God -- or, in Elijah's case, to kill the prophets of Baal. And when the event was over, the Lord would release their mind, and they would go back to their life.
We found in other teachings that this anointing is called, in one or two places, the spirit of heaven. It is the spirit of heaven. We found -- I think we talk about that in the "Jesus in the Jordan" series. It is an anointing that is more powerful than the Holy Ghost of the New Covenant, OK, and it existed under the Old Covenant. But it did not have the power to bring men into full stature and then glorify them. It did not have that power. It was a temporary imparted anointing. Am I making any sense at all? OK.
The imparted anointing today ha- -- well, we have the potential to receive an imparted anointing today that will be made permanent, and the permanency is in glorification. You see, the permanency is in the glorification.
And I guess this is the time to say it. A couple of weeks ago, the Lord was speaking to me, and He told me something that did not make me very happy. And I did not particularly want to share it with you, but it seems appropriate at this time, so I guess it is grow-up time for all of us. And that is that even the Lord Jesus Christ had a po- -- in His condition of full stature, before the crucifixion but in His condition of full stature, had the potential to lose His full stature. And when God told me that --
[INAUDIBLE]
June, could you please -- it distracts [?me?]. I am sorry. It is a small group. You know, in another -- in a larger church, it would not mean anything, but it is really hard for me. OK? I appreciate your cooperation.
I did not like it when God told me that, but it -- really, this seems to be the place to tell you that the Lord Jesus Christ, for the three and a half years of His ministry, was keeping Satan at bay under the authority of His Christ mind by the sheer willpower and strength of Christ and that, right up until the time that the Father raised Him from the dead, He had the potential to lose it. Now I do not like the sound of that --
[?Scary?].
-- at all. And as I said, I said, Lord, I am not telling them that. I said, I refuse to be discouraged, and I am not telling the group that, but it just seems to fit right in with this message, and I am telling you the truth.
[INAUDIBLE]
Really? Jesus could have lost it in full stature. After the temptation, He could have lost it, and that was probably what happened to Paul when he was born out of season. What did that mean? The Lord did not grant him permission to go on to glorification, and at some point, he just -- his hold on the carnal mind was released, and his body was offered up, and he died a natural death.
[INAUDIBLE] Paul [INAUDIBLE] [?preached to everybody?] that he could lose it?
Mm-hmm.
I wondered if [?Jesus' struggle went on?].
Yeah. Well, it was not the kind of struggle that we have now because right now we are like that guy, that wrestler on the match -- on the mat, and we are pinned under the big bruiser, OK. Once we get on top of that big bruiser and are -- have his shoulders pinned to the mat, it will not be as difficult as it is now. But nevertheless, Jesus had to be ever-vigilant. He could have lost it.
And let me remind you that He only entered into the second stage of the resurrection just before the crucifixion. The three and a half -- for the three and a half years of His ministry, He walked only in the first stage of the resurrection. He entered into the second stage in the Garden of Gethsemane just before His travail. So he went for three and a half years knowing that He could have lost it.
I do not know if this is [INAUDIBLE], but there was this Scripture that talks about that maybe it is all symbolic that [?you go?] for 1,000 years. At the end of the 1,000 years, Satan would be loosed, and that some would be tempted to give in. I wonder if that is what it is. You think you have it, and at the end of that time, you could really lose your full stature. [UNINTELLIGIBLE] Satan would tempt, and some will turn away from the [?faith?]. It is in -- what is that in [CROSSTALK]
No, that is -- those are two Scriptures that you combined there.
[CROSSTALK] why would it mean that in the end of all that time, if it is really true, 1,000 years [INAUDIBLE] that some would still lose it then. Would that be the same thing?
Well, that is the same principle, OK. Personally, I believe that number 1,000 is a symbolic number.
[CROSSTALK]
I think that seems a little extreme to me. Of course, this is just me, you know. I am not telling you that this is Christ, but from -- I do have the Spirit of God, and at this point, it seems to me a bit extreme that the Lord would let us live for 1,000 years walking in this anointing and then be able to lose it. I -- it just does not sit right with me. Jesus was in that condition for three and a half years, you know, and He could have lost it. But to walk in this condition for 1,000 years --
[CROSSTALK]
-- it just does not sit right with me. It does not sit right with me, so -- but then again, I have preached to you that I think we will be in full stature after 1,500 years, so I do not know what the answer is, but it does not sit right with me.
Now remember the teaching here. Do not panic or be discouraged, and do not get upset. If something does not sit right with you, either you are -- we are not seeing it right, or there is a piece of information that we do not have, OK.
So now God did tell me -- let me tell you this. I believe the Lord told me that Jesus, in full stature, could have lost it. The Lord did not tell me that Jesus, after the second stage, could have lost it. Now whether or not that is true, I do not know, but we have to be very careful. The Word of the Lord, to me, was the first -- Jesus in the first stage of the resurrection, could have lost it. The Lord did not talk to me at all about Jesus in the second stage of the resurrection, so maybe that is -- maybe this is the Lord coming in here now to comfort us.
You had said [INAUDIBLE] carnal mind [INAUDIBLE] temptation [INAUDIBLE] it right that [INAUDIBLE] temptation [INAUDIBLE]
No, that is not the order. His carnal mind was paralyzed after the temptation. The temptation happened at the moment of the -- or immediately after the baptism. And if I said it otherwise on a tape, then that was incorrect, if you heard me say that, OK.
[INAUDIBLE] paralyzed, and then I could not understand [INAUDIBLE]
No. What happened was, when Jesus came up out of the water, the Christ mind in Him was matured to its fullest development. Then, immediately, the spirit driveth Jesus into the wilderness to be challenged by Satan. It was a spiritual experience. It may very well have happened right there at the Jordan. I do not know any of those details, how long it took or how many physical days.
It may have been beyond the realm of time. It may have happened, as far as time is concerned, instantly as Jesus came up out of the water. His Christ mind came to full maturity, and this challenge we call the temptation probably took place beyond the realm of time. And to the men looking on, as Jesus came up out of the water, He was in full stature, could very easily have been the case.
Did I understand [INAUDIBLE] carnal mind [INAUDIBLE]
His carnal mind was full stature? No, I do not think His --
[CROSSTALK]
Yeah, I do not think His carnal mind was full stature, but He was a natural man which means that His carnal mind was sitting on the throne of His soul. His carnal mind was the queen of His soul. She had full possession of Him because He was born a natural man.
So what happened at the time of the baptism? Several things happened, one of which was that -- probably, at this event called the temptation, the Christ mind beheaded Jesus' soul of the carnal mind. That was what happened. You see, Jesus was a natural man. He had a carnal mind that was sitting in full possession of His soul. And as He grew up, His Christ mind was increasing. He was growing in grace and wisdom. His Christ mind was increasing. At the baptism in Jordan, that Christ mind grew up to the fullness of its potential.
Then the temptation, the challenge of the temptation was that that Christ mind beheaded the soul of the man, Jesus. He knocked the carnal mind off of the throne, and Jesus sat Himself down and put the carnal mind under Him, thus paralyzing him.
Sheila, you had said that [?the Lord had told you?] about a week or so ago. I guess that is true because it says that when Jesus was tempted and Satan finished, he left Him for a season. So it meant He had to have many temptations, and He never gave in, so I guess He overcame and overcame and overcame. Wow.
Amen.
I guess we better [?grow up?].
Yeah. That is a hard word, that Jesus could have lost it. Can you hear the Pharisees with this one? That is a hard word. The Lord told me that about a month ago, and I tried to forget about it.
[CROSSTALK]
[CROSSTALK]
But I see, as Christ increases in me, that I become stronger and stronger, and no matter how severe the trials are, I am just standing. I am just pressing in. So I have to believe that at such time as the Lord permits me to stand up in full stature, that I will just be able to do it. If it has taken all this strength to get him down, once I get him down, I should be able to keep him under my feet by the grace of God. I have to believe that.
It cannot be as horrendous as the trials are now because I am -- as I told you in the exhortation, that the trials are horrendous. They are literally without rest, without rest. There is not even a breather, yet I am mature to the place where I am laughing and joking and singing. And there was a time I never thought I would do that.
So as I ascend and rise above these trials, I just have to believe that I will get to a place that no matter -- in full stature that no matter how severe they are, that I am just going to be OK, just going to be laughing at these trials and just taking the victory on every turn, just solving every problem and going forward. I have to believe it, that life is going to be --
Well, we do not know what life was like for Jesus, you see. Sometimes when I stop to think about it, I realize I have a very hard life, yet it is glorious. It is glorious in the spirit, but it is like trouble every day, trouble, continuous trouble. And the deeper that you enter into the spirit, the more trouble you have. It is just continuous, ongoing trouble, but you get strong, and you learn to deal with the trouble. And you learn to deal with your own soul so that you are not damaged by it. And my body used to get very sick from all the stress, and my body is not getting sick anymore. So it is just a continuous overcoming. I have to believe that there -- well, there is peace.
OK, God just gave me a Scripture. There is peace in full stature because when Jesus made of the twain one new man -- well, I guess that is talking about the cross though. Yeah, full peace does not come until the crucifixion. Well, praise God. I cannot believe fo- -- this kind of warfare for 1,000 years. I cannot deal with that to tell you the truth, but there is got to be something we do not know. God would not do that to us. I really do not believe it. OK.
It is my understanding that in order for a mind to appear in a vessel, you have to be married to somebody. Is that correct?
Yes.
OK. Well, so then when [?we are going to?] -- our spirit is going to be sucked out of the carnal mind, it has no mind to go into until it marries Jesus Christ, right?
Yes.
OK. So first it is not that, you know, the two minds, you said, and she is back and forth for a while. Well, my question was, is she -- how could there be another mind there if she was not married to Jesus Christ?
[CROSSTALK]
You see, I am thinking the spirit has to join to the spirit, and then another mind will appear, but how could she -- how could that have happened without that marriage?
Because she is a harlot, and she is married to two men at once. [CROSSTALK]
OK. So then there will be another -- by the time she is sucked out of the carnal mind, she is -- there is already another mind that has appeared before --
Right.
-- that period.
She's [CROSSTALK]
OK. Because I was thinking fully married to Jesus Christ.
No. It is a simultaneous -- right now the human spirit is adulterous, and probably in the case of everybody here, she is intimately involved both with Satan and the Lord Jesus Christ. She has to children, an illegitimate child by Satan, the carnal mind, and the legitimate heir through Christ. And I have drawn it on the board several times if you can recall, OK.
[CROSSTALK]
I am a little tired, you know. Right now I really do not feel like drawing it again, but it is a simultaneous transference. That is how it happens.
[INAUDIBLE]
Did I answer your question?
Yeah.
OK.
[CROSSTALK]. You are telling me she is married to two people.
She is married to two people.
[INAUDIBLE]
Yeah.
That was a good question that she asked. In mark they call him Elias, but Elias and Elijah are one in the same?
Yes, I think Elias is the Grecian version of the name Elijah, just like Zion and -- Mount Sinai and Mount Zion. John, I think, is Joshua. Celie.
I am reading in Mark 9:12-13 where it says, "Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that He must suffer man things, and be set at nought. But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him." It is almost like they are making Elias and Jesus one in the same.
How do you draw that conclusion? Well, in the spirit, they are the same, but I do not see how you draw that conclusion. In the spirit, they are one though. That was what the events on the Mount of Transfiguration were all about. Jesus was saying, Elijah and Moses, they are all -- we are all one spirit because everyone who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.
I said I think it is very exciting that many of us, if not all of us, are having Elijah experiences. Otherwise, we could never -- I know that I could never translate these verses this way if I myself was not having Elijah experiences. I would never know that this is what the Scripture is talking about if I was not going through it myself. And it is just very exciting to me to see that we are entering into Elijah experiences. I mean, it is just really exciting.
Why would God give us these experiences to let us die before entering into full stature? It does not make any sense at all. So those of us that are beginning to have these experiences, I think we have every reason to hope that you will be experiencing full stature. It is just very exciting. It is very exciting to me. To think of Elijah's Christ mind saying to his carnal mind, how in the world did I take that tumble? How did that happen to me? That is how I talk to the Lord, you know. Man, Lord, how did that happen to me? You know, it is just very exciting.
And the conversation that Elijah is having with his Christ mind, you know, those are the -- you know, I have similar conversations. It is just mind-boggling the way the Scriptures are opening up. It is just mind-boggling. For those who can bear to listen to these messages, it is just too much, but most people cannot bear to listen to them, of course.
But, you see, the road to full stature is to have these experiences, and you have to fall. You have to take your lumps. You have to take your tumbles. If you think that you are going to ascend on a steady course into full stature without taking any missteps at all, you are mistaken. It will never happen, and you are moving in a spirit of pride. You have to tumble. You have to see your imperfection. You have to realize how desperately you need the Lord Jesus Christ, that even though you have the mind of Christ in you, you will never make it without the Lord Jesus Christ holding you up because the Christ in you will fail because He is not in full stature.
And the Son, while He is still being trained, is just like a servant. That means He is not perfect. So you have got to misstep. You have got to take your lumps. You have got t fail. You have got to miss a couple of times. It has to be, so beware of pride. Do not put all your energies into not misstepping.
Put all your energies into confession and repentance and communion with the Lord and your studies and your spiritual experiences. Commit yourself to God, and hope for the best. And if you misstep, just believe that God who is the Lord Jesus Christ, the faithful one, will pull you through and will rebuild the mind of Christ in you, just as He did for Elijah. I mean, it is happening, brethren. It is happening, how exciting.
